Reapplying for Medi-Cal (Redetermination)

 

Medi-Cal is a program that helps people in California pay for medical care. Sometimes, people need to re-apply for Medi-Cal to make sure they still qualify. This process is called redetermination. Here's how to apply for Medi-Cal redetermination in San Diego County.

 

Step 1: Gather your papers - You will need to show proof of who you are, like a copy of your birth certificate or California driver’s license. You may also need to show proof of where you live, like a utility bill. And you will need to show how much money you make, like pay stubs or a tax return.

 

Step 2: Get the application - You can find the Medi-Cal redetermination application on the California Department of Health Care Services website. Just search for "Medi-Cal redetermination application" and you will find it. You can also pick up the application at a local Medi-Cal office. Step 3: Fill out the application - Fill in all the blanks on the application. Be sure to write legibly and double-check your answers. If you need help filling out the application, call the Access Customer Service Center at 1-866-262-9881 for assistance.

 

Step 4: Submit the application - You can submit your application by mail, or in person. If you submit it by mail, be sure to make a copy of everything before you send it. And if you submit it in person, be sure to ask for a receipt.

Step 5: Wait for a decision - The Medi-Cal office will look at your application and decide if you qualify for Medi-Cal. They will send you a letter in the mail to let you know their decision.
